Exfiltration

Exfiltration describes the unauthorized transfer of data outside of a secure system or boundary. Exfiltration is a common goal of adversaries seeking to steal confidential or sensitive data from an organization.Exfiltration can happen through a variety of channels: for example, data may be copied to a cloud service such as DropBox, it may be tunneled out by embedding it into seeming innocuous network protocols such as DNS or HTTPS, it may be hidden within legitimate files.
