Data Breach
A data breach is a security incident in which sensitive or protected data is accessed by, or disclosed to, individuals without authorization. A data breach can be the result of intentional activity by a cyber adversary or malicious insider. Data breaches may also happen by accident, through improper configuration of security controls. Data breaches can bring significant costs to organizations, in the form of regulatory fines, credit monitoring for affected individuals, incident response costs, loss of reputation, and other associated costs.
