Data Classification

Data classification is the process of analyzing a data set and mapping it into one or more categories of information, so proper security policies and controls can be applied. Data classification can leverage a variety of techniques. Some techniques, such as string-based pattern matching, are efficient and simple to implement, but are also prone to inaccuracies. More sophisticated techniques, such as adjacency analysis and machine learning, enable better accuracy and significantly reduce false positives.
