Data Discovery

Data discovery is the process of identifying and cataloging the full set of data repositories that exist within an organization, including known managed data repositories, as well as unmanaged shadow data repositories. As organizations shift their application development and IT operations processes to embrace DevOps principles, data repositories continue to multiply unchecked, particularly in the cloud. Data discovery enables organizations to build a complete picture of their data footprint. Once data is discovered and classified, organizations have the baseline information needed to ensure that proper security controls are in place to minimize risk and meet compliance obligations.
